A Wedding Anniversary Of 50 Years For Former Pair of Bikers

The groom of 50 years met me at the door of the Wawota Drop Inn Hall with a welcoming hug and a loud smack on the cheek after some 50 years as a neighbour. It was Saturday, June 11, 2011 just a few weeks from the day when they were actually married 50 years ago. The bride of 50 years was not beside him but mixing with those in the crowded room. Neighbours from that southeast town and area were there to pay respects to a couple and tribute to a marriage that had lasted longer than most marriages these days. A dandy way for all to see and say howdy to neighbours. The whole family made everyone feel welcome before, during and after lunch. How fitting it was that when I got to the door to head for home it was the sweet bride that gave me the parting hug looking every bit a lady. One would never know this couple used to be a pair of bikers. Probably something else they had in common for their happy marriage. The evening was one more tribute to that couple. Many more years of wedded bliss at home - the bike was sold last year but who knows what's in store for the future!
